Re-sourcing: Rethinking How We Build Our Cities

Carlos & Zuhal from Openact Architecture share their perspective on re-sourcing — an approach that goes beyond sustainability to regenerate and reconnect natural, social, and cultural systems.

It’s about embracing the delicate balance between nature and urban life, reimagining how materials, spaces, and ecosystems can be adapted to create resilient, inclusive, and living environments. This philosophy drives their projects, like Sava Activities in Zagreb, where they merge temporary interventions with natural flows to revive the city’s relationship with its riverbanks.

By working with nature’s rhythms instead of fighting against them, Openact envisions urban spaces that promote ecological resilience, social inclusion, and spatial justice.
