Team Point of View
The Clubhouses project proposes to develop a network across the territory of La Corrèze. These built places, “Corrèze-houses” are activators to establish a project culture on each site. As the figure of a spiral that can extend keeping the same shape every time, this project culture is based on the search on each site for simple urban and completely adaptable structures, which regulates the scale, the programs and their operational modes resolutions over time. Their definition is different in each site: a cultural house in Ussel; a welcoming place for future residents of cooperative housing in Turenne; and ownership and existing management (the constructions, public spaces , soils) by residents in Argentat. The houses must also allow returning, disseminating and expanding approaches.
They allow new associations, born of clubs that gather different skills around a common goal. These clubs are evolving and new practices emerge in turn enrich this project culture. The response of the project simply proposes a framework: the establishment of responses to both pragmatic and innovative in these territories accepting the paradoxes and diverting them. The role of designers is for us to leverage the adhesion surfaces between places and people.
Jury Point of View
The basis of the project is the installation of a network of “Maisons Corrèze”, that can be reproduced in other villages appropriately to each context: cultural cooperative in Ussel, co-working craft centre artisanal in Argentat, village hall in Turenne. The image of the clubhouse is reinterpreted and adapted to the small village context. The project proposes several housing scenarios for small cooperative housing programs carefully embedded in the existing fabric. The section drawings express relations of proximity and interactions with public space.
