Europan 9 Moudon

runner-up

The project suggests three intervening tools for the development of Moudon. MASTERPLAN: the masterplan initiates the development for middle- and long term. Nodal point and trigger of the extensive redevelopment is the new station square. SIGNALLING: a consistent appearance of commercial and industrial uses is achieved with a clear and explicit labelling and structuring of the four mixed zones. Focus of perception lies now on the fresh and uniform signalling, rather than on the mediocre architectural quality. WEBSITE: besides serving administration and general information, the website www.moudon.ch acts as a promotional tool.

This project is connected to the following themes

Mobility - Interface

The proposal creates a node, the expression of a localised connection between large-scale mobility and the local system, combined with a physical and network-based rebranding of the city.

Nature - Limit / Reconnection

At territorial scale, the site acquires a new clarity. The infrastructure and heterogeneous business zone that it generates are no longer perceived as a strict boundary, but more as a strip around which the river and its environment flow. This proximity becomes the medium for new routes, programmes at the interface between business and nature, which generate a new overarching identity.
