Urban Sponge is a critical urban space that originates with the idea of a receptive network able to take in data and output organizational answers that transform its own shape. Individuality of the single subjects who live and use the space; socializing in order to guarantee diverse and constantly renewed opportunities for living together and sharing spaces, creating a desire for “belonging”; ecology (oikos, “house” ; logos, “speech”) that governs the rules and life of the system. These are the variables of the proposed system, which combines shape, function and urban performances; organisms inhabited by each single citizen occupying the flats or offices, sharing in the community of internal courtyards or bioclimatic greenhouses in order to make the built fabric self-sufficient in energy.
This project is connected to the following themes
Housing - Morphology
In this project, a very active and marked morphology at both the urban and architectural scales, illustrates the desire to create a place which the inhabitants can make their own.
Nature - Hybridity / Juxtaposition
The proposal seeks to achieve a hybrid between territory and architecture through building-landscapes. The building morphology reflects the movements of the ground, forming a unique, fluid and dynamic system that allows a collective appropriation of the space.
