1. How do you define the main issue of your project in relation with the theme “Living Cities Imagining architecture taking care of the milieus”? And in which way do you think your project can contribute to an ecological and/or social evolution?
The main goal in our project was by designing a series of small, sensitive interventions, we attempted to find and reveal uncommon qualities specific to Rimbo, its geographic context, environment, as well as its regional role. We believe that these strategies can help design with intentionality by understanding the plural relationships between nature, culture, and identity that arise in rural communities.

2. How did the issues of your design and the questions raised by the site mutation meet?
Our design proposal very much grew from visiting the site: wandering around, picking berries, visiting cafes, barnes and talking with Rimbos citizens. We were struck by the raw beauty of the site and the kindness of the people. The people of Rimbo truly love their town but also are also aware that the quality of their central spaces can be improved and generally want them to be better.

PROJECT:

3. Have you treated these issues previously? What were the reference projects that inspired yours?
Ideas of localisms like neighborliness, generosity and finding value in the existing are frequent topics in our work. We realized during our visits that we wanted to work with the overgrown quality of certain landscapes present in rimbo, recognizing this sort of anarchistic vegetation to be resilient, maintenance-free, biodiverse and beautiful year round in a sort of Piet Oudolf way.

SITE:

4. How can your project be implemented together with the actors through a negotiated process and in time. How did you consider this issue in your project?
We think that the project would be developed in the strongest way by consulting and negotiating with Rimboites. Rehabilitating buildings can be made in conjunction with new tenants, A local house building company can be set up in a repurposed barns or factory building.

5. How did you form the team for the competition and if so what are the skills you associated?
The team is formed through friendships from university, mutual interests in ecology and reuse as well as a shared interest for a certain type of discussion regarding acupunctural interventions, beauty and nourishing complexity.

6. How could this prize help you in your professional career?
Receiving the prize is interesting to us, I think that it offers affirmation for these ideas in an unexpected and hopeful way.
