1. How do you define the main issue of your project in relation with the theme “Living Cities Imagining architecture taking care of the milieus”? And in which way do you think your project can contribute to an ecological and/or social evolution?
Our project emphasizes synergy in space and time, crafting a dynamic local landscape - timescape. This innovative approach challenges the prevailing trend of oversimplification and aims to facilitate the organic evolution of humans, non-humans, and materials at their unique cycles and rhythms. It marks a step toward ecological and social evolution, serving as a concept that requires the invention of new tools in subsequent phases for further development.
2. How did the issues of your design and the questions raised by the site mutation meet?
Our design concept aligns with the site mutation due to the expansive nature of the location and its unique demands. The idea of developing a “Microville durable” necessitates a comprehensive reevaluation of spatiality, time, and production systems, incorporating both the memory of the old military aerial base with the concept of the “Microville factory”, as well as the regional agricultural strength expressed through “Agro-poetics”.
PROJECT:
Yes, we have experience addressing similar issues in previous projects. Notably, we conducted preliminary studies for the municipality of Pont-Aven, France, following Europan 16. Additionally, our project 'Giardini di Cuniola, L'altro paessagio, agro-poetica del patrimonio' secured the 2nd prize in a competition for the revitalization of a farming estate in Ferrara, Italy in 2023.
SITE:
The implementation of our project involves a phased approach, engaging in a transdisciplinary and professional collaboration with relevant stakeholders. In the current competition phase, our focus is on initiating discussions and involving site actors in the development process, exploring unique or different scenarios. As designers, architects, landscape designers, and urbanists, we provide tools to foster future urban vitality. However, the direction of the project's evolution should be guided by the active involvement of key actors such as the municipality, SCIC, and future inhabitants.
REFERENCES:
For this competition, we optimized our team by forming a duo from our young studio, Atelier Poem, consisting of architects. Leveraging our collective working experience in urbanism and landscape design, we believe this pairing equips us with the necessary skills to address the challenges presented by the site.
6. How could this prize help you in your professional career?
This prize would be instrumental in advancing our professional career by reaffirming, for the second time (Europan 16), our dedication to large-scale projects and our thoughtful approach to landscape and urbanism.

Atelier Poem has a notable track record of successful projects and competition wins. Notably, Atelier Poem was honored with a mention in the Young Italian Architectural Talent Award 2022 by the Consiglion Nazionale Architetti Pianificatori Paesaggisti e Conservatori (CNAPPC). Some of the acclaimed projects include “La timidité des cimes” at Villa Medicis, Academie de France à Rome (2nd edition, 2023) and “Chapel of Tears” in Haute Savoie, France (2020).
