How do the Juries work?

New competition coming!
E18 session starting on the 3rd of March

How Do Juries Work?

Each country sets up a jury including experts of the architectural and urban order and design and 1 public figure. Each jury meets for 2 study sessions of the projects. Projects remain anonymous throughout the procedures.

1- During the 1st session, about 25% of the projects are shortlisted, based on the project’s compliance with the rules, on their conceptual content and on the degree of innovation.
Before the 2nd session, the juries meet with the city representatives during the Forum of the Cities and the Juries.
Shortlisted projects are compared and classified by theme, before being discussed by the European Scientific Committee, the juries, and the site representatives.
2- The juries independently reexamine the shortlisted projects and point out the winners, the runners-up and the special mentions. National secretariats then disclose the names of the rewarded teams, before ratifying the decisions and confirming them to the European Secretariat.
The results are then finally published on the Europan website.
