The declared aims are to create a new centre, develop activities and services and to increase residential density without excluding the local population. The new hub is then linked to the historic centre by means of a linear park that emphasises green forms of travel.
The proposal generates a densified neighbourhood that maintains the existing buildings and local identity, to create a functioning public amenity able to accommodate all densification scenarios.
The guiding thread is an arcade. It controls the empty public space and private construction. It uses the remaining empty spaces to link activities and to frame the life of the public square, characterised by two refurbishments (theatre, indoor market) and a new educational building. These activities attract all generations and foster social life within a calmer neighbourhood.

2010-2015…
Following the competition, the municipality of Nyon commissioned the winning team to develop his project and to propose a program and the types of assignments for the future Mangette Eco-district. From 2011, a steering committee is being established to develop a project together and define an image of the future district, which synthesizes the various thematic studies developed to date. In April 2012, the image of the future district is defined. The municipality validates this program that allows to continue the process with the financial feasibility study. The municipality mandates IConsulting for this study, based on the district plan developed by the Europan team. During this phase of financial study, few contacts were made with the team; exchanges occurring between the financial studies office and the municipality. In spring 2013, the office IConsulting submits his economic feasibility report in which all assignments provided by the team has been maintained by the municipality. The financial study is then extended to identify the percentage of housing in free access in relation to social housing. Currently (spring 2015), the municipality must approve the financial study of the program and confirm the choice of assignments that will allow to deepen environmental studies, to start the analysis of buildings and the support process. But the municipality has already confirmed that the site of the station will be part of the priority projects for implementation between 2015 and 2020.
The project aims to provide a densified area with a central character, to assume the plots and existing buildings, supports for a local identity, to create a strong and functional public system that could support all scenarios of residential intensification without being compromised.

This project is connected to the following themes
Mobility - Interface
By concentrating public buildings and services around a tram-train station, the project defines an entrance space and connects the new district to the wider network.
Shared spaces - Link - promenade
In order to delimit the open space and establish links between the different urban components, the team proposes to create a “red guiding thread”, a long gallery circulating between the buildings and the squares.
Shared spaces - A Frame for social life
Conceived as a shared space to accommodate different generations, both existing and future inhabitants, the public space is strongly structured by the new and existing buildings.
